All these social events in the sensoriums...I see nothing more than a desperate kind of bluster. We're all puffing ourselves up against the Nightmare King: "See? We're unconcerned. We're laughing and celebrating." That, combined with a supposedly positive effect on morale seems more than enough justification for them. But while I rarely pass up a chance to abandon myself to the Bacchanalian flux of a wild celebration, I think we should find out why we feel the need now.

Beware. Bluster does not work on him, for the other side of that behavior is fear. You will look inward or you will be his prey.

Sisters, a rather strange request. Duncan Idaho the Younger (this is really unwieldy, we must find shorter names for them) was given by the Tleilaxu engineers that brought him back as a Ghola, without his knowledge, programming as a superior kind of sexual imprinter. It is vital that we prevent him from engaging in any kind of tryst, for the safety of him and his partner. We cannot reveal this to him either, as this knowledge would probably set off another state of shock in him of the kind I observed in him immediately after the last pod-release. While we unravel this problem, please watch over him.

There's not much of a support structure around here, so I figured you might need it. My name is Tennessee Lee, but my friends call me Tess. I've already talked to Fletcher, if you know him, and I think I cheered him up a fair mite.

Any chance we could make a new try at introductions? My name's Tennessee Lee, but my friends call me Tess, and I hope I can count you on that sooner or later. I'm a grasshopper. Where I'm from, that means I'm a traveler, explorer, friend to other grasshoppers, and student of the universe. I travel between different worlds, learn what I can, and then share that knowledge with anyone else willing to learn.

Fletcher's here with me. He's fallen asleep, but he seems pretty content for the moment. I'll make sure he doesn't get into any trouble until he relaxes about going back to you.

I need volunteers for a bridge crew. Optimally, I'd like to have four shifts, but if necessary we'll just have one for emergencies. Ideally, you should have some idea of how to use technology, but don't worry too much - we'll all have to lean Stacy's systems. What is needed is the ability and willingness to work together and follow orders.

This is a welcome and informational post to all new crew members. My name is Allen Gentry, and I am one half of head of the Engineering department, along with Billy Cranston. I hope the omnicoms are working out for you, but if they're not, or you have any other tech-based questions, stop by the Engineering Department (click here for a map) any time between 900 and 1800 hours and someone will be around to can help you.

Actually, given our perpetual-shut-in nerd hours, you can pretty much go in at ANY of the hours and meet somebody who can help you.

A lot of you are from worlds where technology hasn't advanced as much as it has here on the meatship, and those of you from worlds more similar to mine may be minors still partway through your educations. Maybe you're none of these, and just interested in learning a thing or two. Some crewmembers are currently organized in conducting weekly classes on various subjects, and slots are still open for anyone who is an expert on a subject who would be willing to teach it. Please see this post for a current roster of classes and timeslots. Attendance is open, but do treat your instructors with respect, especially if they're Bene Gesserit, because 9 times out of 10 they can either out-think or out-pound you, and somehow get away with it.

This is also a reminder to current instructors to give me your chosen timeslots if you haven't yet. It may be common knowledge to your current students where and when classes are being held, but we have a growing population here.

With the Nightmare King's approach, we need hard data. What minds is he going to turn to for fuel and leverage? Who will be in most danger when it finally attacks?

Luckily we have a potent tool in Petit Perception. We need to know who is carrying around hidden issues and then we need to deliver that data to a trustworthy person, or keep it to ourselves if such a person doesn't exist.

Acolytes, if you'll recall yesterday's lesson, we're looking for behavior of type five, seven and eight. Any individual displaying those tics, we must note and compare our data. We are not immune ourselves either: We must cross-examine each other.

Sister Masaari, I request your help in this too.

It is my pleasure to prepare to welcome two new acolytes into the Bene Gesserit: QhKatara and Tennessee Harper-Williams Lee.

Tomorrow, we will have a swearing in ceremony, at the Ghariba tree. You are all invited. The two new Sisters and Reverend Mother Masaari may also invite who they wish.

This is the first time this ceremony will have been viewed by outsiders to our Order. I look forward to your presences.
