Hi everyone,

For the new crew members and those who don't read this network very often, my name is Billy Cranston. I co-head the ship's Engineering department along with Allen Gentry, the administrator of this network. If you misuse it, you'll have him to answer to---not that spirited debate is censored, of course, but we have strict privacy rules. That means there is to be no hacking of other peoples' private data.

Finally, I forgot to do something important in all the chaos of the Nightmare King's attack. I'd still like to hold a meeting of our department as soon as possible. I have an important announcement to make regarding the future.

You should all know that, following my resignation from the magical department of the command crew, our captain decided to try and prohibit my personal use of magic. As my nature and the reality-protecting duties I have long been given by a higher power render this categorically impossible, I refused. He changed his opinion a few minutes later, presumably upon realizing that apprehending me would be prohibitively difficult.

I recommend you all keep in mind that the current command staff has no reason not to broadly interfere in the personal lives of those aboard this ship, and that the vague and arbitrary protections they have given us can be waived without so much as a simple warrant.

Everyone,

This is it. We've been preparing as much as we can for months now; it's time to put that preparation to use. This is not a drill.

Magical Department: Roxie will be bringing a group directly into the Cathedral to confront and deal with the Nightmare King once and for all - follow her lead, if you haven't been briefed already.

There will be a complement of non-magical bodyguards going along with you, in order to ensure that if the Nightmare King or his minions have powers that can be used against the magical, we'll have a counter.

As for everyone else? You'll be with me - we're going to stay outside the Cathedral and make sure that nothing gets inside to where they're trying to confront the Nightmare King. Nothing gets by us.

I've attached a roster: Check to make sure you're in the right team, and good luck, everybody. It's time to do what we're here for.

I know you all can do it.

(ooc: Refer to this to who goes where - if you'd be in the Magical Department but are doing one of the other things instead (like helping people wake up from nightmares), then just pretend you're on the roster but get sidetracked.)

Listen up, people.

The dreams are getting worse, and the daydreams are starting to cause serious injuries. The Mystical Department is almost ready to put an end to this once and for all, and its up to us to keep the crew as safe and as sane as we possibly can until they're ready to move.

Before, we haven't been able to do much against these dreams, but starting today, that changes.

Starting today, we fight back.

Thanks to Wyn Callahan, we now have the weapons to do so. She modified several handheld energy weapons so they'll damage and disrupt the dream constructs. They're also non-lethal, so if you have to shoot the dreamer to put an end to their nightmare, don't hesitate to take the shot. Just be sure to drag them to the Medbay immediately afterward.

We have a limited supply, so everyone will only be issued one. Stop by the Precinct ASAP to pick one up.

I would like to find others to spar with. I have set up a "white room" scenario in the Sensoriums with sufficient safety precautions to ensure anyone I spar with is not seriously injured.

Everyone, I'd like to take this moment to ask the Mages from our world to bring their devices to Engineering if that's all right. I need to start running peak efficiency diagnostics on everything to ensure that we're all prepared as much as possible.

I'll just be a day with your devices so please, come as soon as possible so I can get started on them. Thank you!

Everyone in Engineering, if I can get an assistant to help with the repairs, maintenance and upgrades it would be more than appreciated. I can walk anyone through that.

Hello everyone,

Welcome to all of the new arrivals - I know how disorienting it can be, but I hope you're all adjusting as well as can be expected. If you need anything, I'm sure many of the crew will be all too willing to help, seeing as how we've all been through the exact same thing.

My name is Nanoha Takamachi, and I'm the department head of the Mystical Department, a section devoted to dealing with, well, all of the magical, mystical, supernatural or paranormal things that the crew might encounter in our mission. If any of you new arrivals have any skills or experience in dealing with these kind of things, then please, let me know! The more the merrier, and we always welcome new recruits. Feel free to contact me over the omnicoms, or stop by the headquarters we have at the Jedi Temple in the City.

Unfortunately, my second piece of news is significantly more serious. Please, I need every single one of you to pay very close attention, because this is crucial to our success and our survival.

I'm afraid that you have arrived at a very unfortunate time - as you may have heard, we are currently dealing with an entity sealed within the ship: a "dark god" that we know as the Nightmare King. It's an extremely powerful supernatural being with the power to influence peoples' dreams and turn their fears and paranoia against them.

It may be currently sealed away, but its seal is weakening, and we're working hard to devise a way to fight it and deal with it once and for all once it breaks free. Until then, I need to ask every single one of you to prepare to deal with the things you fear.

We'll be able to let you know more - a battle plan, maybe - when we know how to fight it. But everyone needs to prepare: Meditation, psychic shielding, even going into the Sensoriums and confronting what you think you're afraid of. If you don't have experience in those things, just ask, and I'm sure people will be willing to help give you some pointers. Even a bit of preparation might come in handy.

I'm sorry to drop something so heavy on you all of a sudden, but it's incredibly important. The Nightmare King wants to drive us all apart and feed on our paranoia, insanity, and fear. If we work together and prepare, he doesn't stand a chance.

I'll answer any questions you all have as best as I can.
