I understand that you all have something in common.

You're certainly under no obligation to speak to me. I understand that many of you do not trust Security with information about yourselves or the events that occurred in your world -- and I am part of Security.

On the other hand, I should probably mention that thus far, the crew member who has been the most helpful in providing information about the Yeerk-human conflict has been Iniss. If there are any details that you feel Iniss might have left out in his explanation, now would be an excellent time to provide clarification.

I can meet you in person or talk over the Omnicomms, whichever is more convenient for you.

God, the amount of faith you have in me is touching, it really is.

Been tied up in Medical trying to figure out why people who were adults yesterday are picking their noses and wetting their diapers today.

None yet. We're going down some avenues but there's so many freaking variables. We're just floundering in the dark hoping we're researching the right stuff because we don't know if it was Stacy, the Ohm, some jerk on XaXing, a crew member, a random accident, a sickness or whatever, not to mention no one's actually bothering to tell us anything useful. I mean, we don't even have any idea if it was intentional or not yet. Or contagious.

You would. Okay, rephrase: what was the coolest thing you blew up?

You mean someone is withholding the information you need, or just that no one infected can tell you anything useful?

Well, they had a Leviathan and a Node there, and some Firebugs. And a lot of Shrikes. I guess the coolest thing would be the Leviathan, but it was the Quarter that took that out.

If we knew what we were looking for I could answer that question. But the patients are keeping secrets and that makes it hard to tell what we don't know, obviously, so we can't like, go test all the food from XaXing. At least we've mostly narrowed it down to XaXing. If it isn't Stacy having an aneurysm or something.

I don't know what any of those things are, but cool.

Why would they keep secrets that might help diagnose their illness? Don't they want to remain alive?

You know, I think I'd rather give up a little information about my eating and sleeping habits than deage out of existence. But that's just a personal preference.

Well, fire can exist in space, under certain conditions. I'm not sure how the Firebugs work, though. And considering that half the crew apparently throws physics out the window with their powers...

Hmm, well, keep in mind that fire doesn't necessarily need 'air' to burn -- it needs oxygen, and enough heat to cause the chemical reaction. The problem is that in space, the oxygen would rapidly dissipate, leaving none available to fuel the reaction. However, it is possible to create solid rocket fuel containing the required chemicals... but no, I don't think that's the way the Firebugs work. Not when the Ohm have psychic powers.

If it's a disease, which it might not be. It could be a magic spell or a time flux or something. Actually, we're leaning that way.

Ummm, what did Iniss tell you? Maybe I can clarify some things or...uh...something? I don't know what your asking for, but I live with a member of Security so..I uh..don't have a problem sharing what I do know? I guess.

He talked about Marco, Rachel, and the others at great length -- although he was a little vague about their reasons for wanting to harm him. I assume they felt they had good reason to dislike him, but the only real reason Iniss offered was that he was "infesting Rachel's cousin".

It is that reason I'm particularly interested in, but anything you'd be willing to share would be ideal.

He told me about Marco's mother and the possible danger to her that Marco posed now that his memories are missing. About their morphing power, and the list of crew members who possess that power. He seemed particularly fixated on Rachel. However, he did not seem to have much to say about you.

You are Rachel's cousin?

Yeah, most times I go by "Tom" though. I think it sounds better, lots of Rachels out there. Might cause some confusion if someone shouted it.

She almost killed him once, I guess that might stick in his head some. Uh, Marco almost did too. Him and the others. My brother, too.

I guess...if Marco can't remember, she might be? I mean, she was Visser 1 for awhile there. So..uh, they were at war against her? If they think they're at war again, she might be in danger. I guess.

Tom. Sorry, Iniss didn't really mention you by name.

So this was a vicious conflict, in which Marco and Rachel were accustomed to taking lives and having their lives targeted? And Eva spent time on the other side of the war, the Yeerk side. Because she was infested.

And because Marco believes Eva is still infested, he believes her to be the enemy. Thus her life is in danger.

Does that mean Marco would be willing to kill Eva in order to free her? Or does he have something else in mind?

He tends to forget it. Don't worry about it.

It was more undercover, on both sides. The Yeerks were trying to invade very quietly and the Animorphs were trying just as quietly to blow them up. For most of it they didn't even know who was attacking them, which is good cause...well, Marco and Rachel were like 13 when it started.

And yeah, Eva and I were both controllers and spent the majority of the war on the other side of it.

I don't know if he'd kill his mom, I mean...he might, but. They...well, they faked her death, you know? I don't know when he found out she wasn't really dead, but it was at least a couple years. So more likely he'd just...try to take her somewhere and lock her up until the Yeerk starved out. And then when it didn't, he might think Stacy did something.

Thirteen? So they've been at it for quite some time. With no adult supervision, I assume.

So he'd hide her somewhere aboard the ship in the meantime. And how long would it take until the Yeerk starved out? A few days? A week?

Was Eva freed earlier than you were? Or are you from different points in the timeline?

Yeah. They started young and by themselves. The guy who gave them the morphing power died pretty quick. I think the other Andalite was pretty young too, or...Marco implied it.

Yeah, probably, somewhere that Stacy couldn't see her. Three days. It'd take three days to starve the Yeerk out.

Um. To tell the truth, I think I died before the war was over. No one will say anything, but... We're from different time points, I guess I'm from earlier than everyone else. She was free before she came on the ship, I wasn't.

Are they counting on the Yeerk dying before Eva can starve? I suppose humans can go without for longer than three days, but still.

...I see. So they lived through your death. This doesn't bother you?

They'd probably give her water but no food, that's what they did with me. Couldn't risk food on the ship not being contaminated.

I can't really answer that question for you; my insight into the human psyche is that of an outsider. However, if you prefer not to, I'd say that's as good a reason not to dwell on it as any.

Ah, well. Stacy- They need Kandrona rays to survive, and normally they leave their hosts every three days for it, Stacy provides them with what they need in the sloop, so they don't have to leave their hosts. It ah-helps them pass better, Marco would be suspicious of the food.

Yeah, I'm pretty much there too. I have one and I don't understand it. But yeah. Uh, if I do I do and it's ok. Really. I don't mind so much.

He said, among other things, that if Marco and Rachel were free, they would target you, he, and Schmuz. And then he went into great detail about morphing abilities and how much Rachel enjoyed morphing bears. I assume he had a run-in with them at some point.

That's likely true. Our former hosts might be targeted also.

I don't know enough about him to determine if he's nice or not. And I don't expect you to defend yourself.

Humans often have a visceral reaction to parasitic species. They also tend to dislike reptiles and insects. Iniss's resemblance to an Earth slug is not an issue.

If he is, as you say, forcing sentient lifeforms to act against their will, that is an issue.

As I mentioned before, you do not have to explain anything to me. If you feel that Iniss's account of events is acceptably accurate, there is no reason for you to correct it. Rather, you should concentrate your energies on getting well.

Except you've conveniently left out any information on Iniss's 'account', haven't you? And it's been pretty clear in the past that the Council and Security are more concerned with making sure the Yeerks get to keep on controlling other people's bodies than protecting the people they infest. You people arrested the one guy who actually freed a host. So tell me, why the hell should I tell you anything, or trust that you're not here on a witchhunt against those of us who fought the Yeerks? Because you people make it pretty clear that you'll always listen to the slugs over us.

I too am part of Security. My species was engaged in fighting the Yeerks prior to their arrival on Earth, though most of my personal experience in fighting them occurred on that planet.
