No Way, No How

It's come to my attention that we now have these mandatory screenings? The health ones I understand, because hey, let's catch those alien parasites before they explode out of people, right? Very sound plan.

The psychological one, though, I'm not sure who I have to talk to about it, so I'm just talking about it here, since I figure they'll see it.

I'm claiming cultural...uh, exemption.

Talking about...things, and feelings, is not really a Viking thing to do. So I'm not doing it. Annnd you can't make me.

If you were letting it go, you'd have no issue discussing it, because you'd have actually both dealt with it and moved beyond it. And while I'm perfectly aware that there are hundreds of different cultures, each with their own way of dealing with things, the method you have chosen in the here and now is not working for you. One doesn't need to be a psychiatrist to see that.

If that method was working, you would have let the evaluation happen, dealt with it, then moved on. Instead you're trying your damnedest to run away screaming.

So stop trying to claim "cultural exemption." It's a crap excuse and, as you noticed, won't fly with anyone. You're here. Now. And whether you had this resource or not at your home, its available to you here. Now. You're as much a part of the crew as anyone else and the laws here apply to you as much as they do anyone else, whether you like them or not.

And yet you honestly can't say my assumptions are wrong.

Feel free to respond with the usual teenager rant about how I don't know the first thing about you and blah blah blah. I'm afraid I won't be reading it, but the venting is healthy.

I'll see you soon, when someone drags you out of your corner and drops you off at your appointment.

Good day, Mr. Haddock.
