[Locked to crew on Galilee]

This is Nightwing. If you are with a government agent, please do not bring this message up. Communications should be working on planet, at least with our omnicomms. Ability to contact off planet is still blocked, but this is at least something.

Reports are saying that two people were killed in the attack on the hotel last night, which I assume means the rest of the crew is safe. I've seen Fate, Jr., Kang, Kon, Howard, Zouichi, Lash, Lord Zetta, the Doctor, Dr. Henderson, Rory Williams, Ruffnut and Sakura. Edited to add: And Signum. (Sorry again.) We're all safe and in good health. If there is anybody else unaccounted for in our groups, please let me know immediately.

We were teleported away from the hotel before the missiles hit. We've been guests of the CLF since then.

They claim that the bombings that involve civilian casualties have been orchestrated by the Council as a way to keep the people afraid of change and believing that the clones are too stupid and violent to be given a chance. We have had a chance to speak with their government contact, who has backed this up. In fact, it turns out that the Council themselves are clones, having been in power for the past five thousand years, using the cloning technology to make themselves new bodies and transfer memories and personality into them.

The CLF have offered to assist us in gaining the technology that we're looking for in exchange for a limited amount of assistance. It's an offer I'm seriously considering as I had my doubts about what we could get from the Council to begin with. It also doesn't involve killing anybody, so that already makes me happier.

If everybody could sound off and let me know that you're okay. Please.

((OOC note: This post can only be seen by crew members who are on Galilee. It is open to ALL crew members on Galilee, including those who were not teleported by the CLF. It will not reach Stacy because the off-planet communications are still down.))

I'm not all that confident either. The CLF has been more willing to give us straight information, though, so I am slightly more inclined to trust them over the government.

They have been more willing to give us information, but there is no guarantee that it is accurate. Electronic evidence and holofeeds can be falsified.

The data they have provided us should be compared against what the rest of the crew has gathered through independent investigation. There is too much at stake to simply pick the side we think is less likely to stab us in the back.

I don't mean to step on any toes, but we can trust Moses. I put him through a bit of a test and he passed with flying colors.

What is this test, and what does it ensure?

[identity profile] needs-release.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
It's a talent my people have. It's called glamour. I can put a human under my thrall and make them do whatever I like. In Moses' case, I emphasized that he needed to tell us the truth. His story didn't change before, during, or after I'd done this.

[identity profile] zouichi.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
I see. That sounds like a very useful talent, indeed. Is there no way to counteract this glamour?

[identity profile] needs-release.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
None that any average human is capable of. Watching him, it took effect just as it was supposed.

I suppose that's a good a method as any.

[He's got like a million questions about stories you BELIEVE to be true vs. stories that ARE true and what exactly Moses said, but he will spare you, Sampire. He will spare you.]

In that case, I'll be sure not to lie about symptoms while in Medical.

[identity profile] needs-release.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
While the sentiment is appreciated, that's not the only reason why you shouldn't lie about things that are, in the end, for your best interest.

[Puzzled]

It was a joke. Was it a bad one?

[identity profile] needs-release.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
I thought I was playing along? Sorry if that didn't come through, obviously, things are a little tense right now.
ext_988045: (Zouichi: ?)

[identity profile] zouichi.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, no. Sorry.

I was just attempting to alleviate the tension a little. It is surprisingly difficult to read intention through text.

...I will work on this in the future.

[identity profile] so-pregnable.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
They could totally be lying about everything and might have even tried to blow us up, but I don't see how our plans should change.

Neither side can be trusted. Neither side is guaranteed to get us the tech.

So why don't we make our own plan? Wasn't that originally what we planned to do? Play both sides, steal the tech in the process using information from both sides.

We can help the clones along the way if it seems right, but choose not to if they lied to us about their real intentions. The only way we find out is if we go with the original plan and let a conflict between both "sides" of the crew play out.
ext_988045: (Zouichi: ...)

[identity profile] zouichi.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
If we go with one side or the other, as was suggested earlier, it is important to verify the sincerity of that side's intentions.

Whatever the rest of the crew's eventual decision, I will abide by it. It is important that we work together. It is equally important that we do not leave this planet at each other's throats.

I'm well aware of that. Just because I'm more inclined to trust them doesn't mean I'm not planning on verifying what information we have been given. My nation's largest export on Krynn was information, after all. We had a reputation to uphold.

Can you let me know what you find, Councilor? I still feel like there are pieces of this puzzle that are missing.

I may be over-thinking this, but in retrospect, everything from the branding, the bombing, the DNA samples, the long range comm blackout... its as if the situation has been engineered to ensure we'd end up on the CLF's side, yet still giving us just enough leeway to throw our lot in with the government if we're so inclined.

It's like we're on planet Xanatos.

Someone is going to win no matter what we do, and I have a feeling that if we go with one side or the other, that winner won't be us.

As soon as I have something, I will let you know. I hate having missing information.

At this point, I honestly don't care much who the winner is, as long as we're able to get off this damn planet alive, and with at least some of the technology we came for.

I'll continue to do some more digging on my own. I'll keep you apprised should I find anything.

[identity profile] so-pregnable.livejournal.com 2011-07-21 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
It almost physically hurts me to say this, but I

Goddammit

I agree with Lex.

We can't forget that the CLF still killed innocent people in their early days before they started getting framed--if they really started getting framed. We also can't forget that they've survived this long under supposedly really evil dictators--to do that they probably had to get pretty wily themselves.

If we can help the clones as we're going out the door without it blowing up in their faces, I'll be first in line. If we can avoid throwing them under a bus, we should.

But just because they are clones doesn't mean helping the CLF helps the clones. I want to help them, because I think most of them believe in it, and I want to trust Moses, but being decent people might not mean they have harmless, decent plans. Revolutions don't usually work that way in history, right?
