Good morning, afternoon, evening, etc., crew. This is Councilor Kal-El.

We've had our first meeting recently and, despite some setbacks, we're ready to make a few announcements.

First of all, I would like to announce that Councilor Matthew Olsen will be the Chairperson for this gathering. I am more than certain that he's up to the challenge.

Second of all, we would like to announce that, as of now, both physical and psychological evaluations are now mandatory for all crew members present and future. However, we do want to reassure you that these will be purely confidential and only be known to the doctors doing the work.

And lastly, in light of recent events, we have decided to pardon the Yeerk known as Schmuz. We feel that his help during the incident with Shiva outweights the reasoning for his continuing imprisonment. As well, we are seeking ways of giving him and others the means to be mobile without the need of an actual host.

Just so you know, we've decided that Mei-Xing will not keep her clone. It was not an easy choice, that much is certain. However, we truly cannot consider it a member of the crew due to certain circumstances. However, this doesn't mean that the clones currently on board, no matter who they are, are not considered crew. This was never and will never be the case.

The physical evaluations are so that the doctors know more about how you function in the case of a major emergency. With recent incidents, these would be helpful. The psychological evaluations are to make sure you are alright mentally. As well, the psychologist and doctors here are ready to help everyone no matter what.

If anything, we can make sure that someone doesn't fly off the handle suddenly because of a problem they experienced here or before they would brought here. Believe me, I'm pretty sure a lot of what has happened could have been avoided if we knew exactly.

And you may have a problem with it, but the fact is this: we need this. As I said, a lot of problems could have been avoided if these were implemented earlier

Well, the evaluations make sense, especially when you get down to the bit where a lot of people here have some seriously fucked up biology. Psychology-wise... Eeh. Then again, if you root out the crazies and bad people, good on you.

Will we be told what, exactly, to expect from these evaluations before hand? I imagine many dubious people will feel comforted if they are privy to this information.

I must state my relief at the decision about Shmuz. It seems to me as if he has done nothing wrong-- his situation was forced upon him by a combination of biological and circumstantial factors, after all. I do wish to hear more about the means of mobility to speak of, however. I have heard little about this.

Yes, they will. I understand some hesitation, but it would be counterproductive if we didn't say what was going on.

We're currently trying to figure out a way to do so. We have a few options, but it depends on how they work and if they're compatible with what we're dealing with.

The medics need to know the differing anatomies of some of the crew so that they will know how to best treat them in emergencies.

As for the psychological evaluations, I understand. I'm not very comfortable with that, either, but I can see the necessity. I can assure you, though, that all of the results will be kept confidential.
