There's something I need to tell you. Either because you're people who should know or I trust to know. I don't want everyone to know because then it might be pointless, but the key people should.

Because of my astral projection and because I frankly bite at mental shielding, my body is an easy target to take over. This has caused problems for my team before. One of the team members actually came up with a solution to it. Since a password wouldn't work as there's a high chance of someone possessing me of being able to read minds, we got something physical.

I will be wearing a smiley face button from now on. Got it a few hours before I came here, actually, while E was trying to get our powers back after my body led everyone into a trap. The button reads mind waves. It's registered to mine. Basically, if it's smiling, then I'm in my body. If it's frowning, it means my body is being possessed.

So if it's frowning, knock me out right away. Because I'd rather not lead people into some sort of death trap again, even if it's not me in control.

...oh f$%#! That was the feeling! Ugh, it was so long ago that I couldn't remember what it was!

Sorry? Okay, are you having some other conversation and just didn't bother to tell me?

I haven't seen the attacks, but I have been sensing something off. I knew I knew what it was, but for the life of me, I couldn't remember. It was near the beginning of the superhero career, not to mention I spent half of it being drugged and strapped to a machine.

But I know what the disturbance is. Or at least what it's similar too. Nightmare Beasts. When Nightmare was messing with people's dreams, he was drawing them in from all over. And Nightmare Beasts are not easy to deal with.

At least I know it's not Nightmare. I know what he looks like in and out of the mask.

But I'm not sure if a God is better. At least Nightmare was only scary when he was using people to boost his power.

So this is legit? And what, this guy's a god? You gotta be kidding me, right?

Nightmare Beasts are legit. Usually they can't cause anymore harm than nightmares. Which, depending on the mind, CAN be pretty horrible, but that can be dealt with.

I don't know if this is a god. Nightmare was just a doctor who happened to figure out where 'Dream Weaver' came from and figured the other people involved in the same experiment could be useful.

Who said there was a god? If it was Roxie, it might be true.

Still, if something is drawing in Nightmare Beasts, there's cause to be concern. Nightmare was making dreams come alive when he was drawing them in.

I mean this dream attacking guy. All I've heard is this one girl mentioning it. Katara. I don't know any chicks called Roxie.

Is this why you're worried about your body being taken over? You're thinking this guy might take over?

Katara did? A very good chance she heard it from Roxie then. And Roxie is good at the dream thing.

One, I just realized what that feeling was. Two, Nightmare never actually 'took me over.' He just kidnapped me and drugged me because I was the most powerful of those in the experiment because I'm apparently the only one that didn't end up in a coma. He didn't need to control my body to use my powers. It was usually either Kanshians or Exile who possessed me.

I just know my defenses are weak and when I'm out of my body, it's easier.

But this is dangerous waters if they can draw in Nightmare Beasts. Very dangerous. I wouldn't be surprised if dreams started affecting the real world, like it did last time.

But you said that this guy isn't Nightmare. And there's nothing to say that this guy doesn't have allies. You think it's possible.

This is so not fun, you know. I have enough of my dreams when I'm asleep. No way do I want to be having them when I'm awake too.

Oh, this new guy is possible, but I just brought up the possession thing since I could explain about the button now. And he could have allies, but it depends whose doing it. Someone among the crew, or an outside force?

You know, all things considered, life on Stacy isn't all THAT different. I mean, I've been living in dreams for half of the last couple of years.

Who knows? I mean, come on. So far we've already been attacked by pirates and Lex Luthor's running around. Unless this Roxie has managed to get him to explain his life story, we've got nothing.

For you, maybe. The rest of us are used to this little thing called "being awake".

Lex Luthor was alive on my world. Never met pirates in the waking world, admittedly. But yeah, we got nothing. I'm gonna have to talk to Roxie.

The other half was awake. But living in dreams isn't so bad. Made it so I was pretty calm for...well, everything that's happened. Including the zombies.

No, the real worry is if they know the tricks to get a dreamer to reveal their fears.

Your dreams, maybe. I'd prefer to have less of mine.

What's that supposed to do?

When you're a dream superhero, you learn that there are a lot of things you have to be careful of. From experimentation, mistakes, and what you see villains do.

There are ways to find out secrets from a person's dreams if you have enough patience. The thing about dreams is, if you can alter one thing, you only have to do it once because of how the dreams work. As long as the dreamer is aware of that one thing, the maker doesn't have to maintain it because the dreamer will take it into their dream and then things will react accordingly to the dreamer's thoughts and personality.

Thus, if you know what you're doing, you can figure out that there's a certain set of triggers that will always gain a certain reaction. Fears are some of the easiest things to find out because there are always some cliche that people will react too. Well, at least for humans. Make it dark, stormy, isolate them, stuff like that.

And once you know someone's fear, there's a lot you can do. Because fear is rarely rational, you can use just a basic illusion of it in reality and it'll usually make the person freeze up, at least for a few moments. Or you can make a persistent nightmare. One that won't stop either because they can be more cruel about it than your own subconscious or simply in the fact they can make you have it over and over again.

...I've done it to Nightmare before. Sent him to the Mental Hospital for a few weeks before he escaped. And he was the one who was using nightmares like toothpicks.

Wait, is this what this guy might be doing to us? Mucking about in our heads so we just end up stuck in some nightmare? How the hell are we supposed to fight something like that?

It's very possible.

There are a few ways. Mostly psychic blocking. There's also going into a deep enough sleep state that you have bypass the dreaming stage. Either be deeper or lighter than that stage.

Another way is to become lucid in the dream. That's how my team was able to get out of Nightmare's trap after he got me. E made a portal back to reality and Handy-Man made a device to counteract sleep.

Lucid dreaming. Great. You know, I never managed to figure that out. And let me guess, you need psychic powers to do this psychic blocking thing, right?

That, or get a psychic to always shield you. Which isn't always the easiest thing to do, according to Wraithy.

I might be able to help with the lucid dreaming thing. I've talked to people through their dreams, so I can make them lucid.

Though the morphing thing could possibly help.

What, you mean I can't just to the store and buy a physic to make my own personal bubble?

How the hell could morphing help? I can't exactly morph in my sleep.

Oh, if only. It'd have saved my team paranoia about the government conspiracy we were actually a part of, but never told because Wraithy left the team and they didn't want us mind probed.

Well, I don't know exactly HOW your morphing works, but I was thinking if you could access the animal mindset somehow. Animals are pretty basic in their fears. It can still cause nightmares, but it's not likely anything traumatic.

But that's if you can just think like an animal on a whim. I know Monkey Boy has given me trouble with his dreams because he just thinks like a monkey.

Man, that is one confusing government conspiracy.

Yeah, we get the animal's instincts as well. But that won't help with dreams at all - there's a two hour limit. Stay any longer, and you're stuck that way.

It was. Eventually we had to rely on E of all people to tell us what to do because Bastion couldn't keep the memories from what the government guy told us or risk exposing the plan.

And E is someone we don't really want to trust without question.

Not possible to get the animal mindset as a human then?

No. The instincts come with the morph. And with some animals, let's just say you really wouldn't want to keep the instincts. Like the ant-mind. The ant-mind is terrifying.

That would probably be for the best. I mean, we've met two guys from his dimension. One is A, who was really pretty much an A-hole, and E who is a coin flip from being helpful to dooming us all.

Ooo, yeah. Hiveminds suck. To be a part of. Nice when you can use it against the enemy. But if you can't get the instincts while human, I guess that idea is out the window.

A and E? Let me guess, their buddies are B, C, and all the other letters of the alphabet?

Yes. Hiveminds suck majorly. Now, dolphin and dog minds? They are awesome.

Quite possibly. Though apparently E is on some sort of quest to get a second letter in his name. Which involved a brick he had to carry around for a while. He got rid of it recently...no idea why or where though. Guess he found where to place it.

They do seem like they'd be fun minds.
