There's something I need to tell you. Either because you're people who should know or I trust to know. I don't want everyone to know because then it might be pointless, but the key people should.

Because of my astral projection and because I frankly bite at mental shielding, my body is an easy target to take over. This has caused problems for my team before. One of the team members actually came up with a solution to it. Since a password wouldn't work as there's a high chance of someone possessing me of being able to read minds, we got something physical.

I will be wearing a smiley face button from now on. Got it a few hours before I came here, actually, while E was trying to get our powers back after my body led everyone into a trap. The button reads mind waves. It's registered to mine. Basically, if it's smiling, then I'm in my body. If it's frowning, it means my body is being possessed.

So if it's frowning, knock me out right away. Because I'd rather not lead people into some sort of death trap again, even if it's not me in control.

I assure you, I won't hold it against you. Besides, it's hardly UNCOMMON for me.

I mean, until....four months before I got taken onto Stacy, I was knocked out on pretty much every adventure that involved an actual super villain because they knew to get a psychic to gank me. Since you can't hurt an astral person in too many ways, the best way to get rid of them is a mental mind blast and knock them out.

Actually, another handy little thing with the button. It's just a straight line for the mouth when I'm out of my body completely.

That's why I want to make sure I am knocked out. I hate my body being used as a meat puppet. I'd prefer the headache.

I've had my body used against my will too. It was only for a short while. but i still remember it.

Kanshians repressed my consciousness completely. I had a pretty good idea what Exile was doing in my body, but that was after running around everywhere trying to find it.

I really, really hate Exile.

Hey, you wouldn't happen to have heard anything about some guy attacking people in their dreams, would you? This girl mentioned it, said he was supposedly a "god" or whatever. What's up with that?

I haven't seen the attacks, but I have been sensing something off. I knew I knew what it was, but for the life of me, I couldn't remember. It was near the beginning of the superhero career, not to mention I spent half of it being drugged and strapped to a machine.

But I know what the disturbance is. Or at least what it's similar too. Nightmare Beasts. When Nightmare was messing with people's dreams, he was drawing them in from all over. And Nightmare Beasts are not easy to deal with.

At least I know it's not Nightmare. I know what he looks like in and out of the mask.

But I'm not sure if a God is better. At least Nightmare was only scary when he was using people to boost his power.

So this is legit? And what, this guy's a god? You gotta be kidding me, right?

Nightmare Beasts are legit. Usually they can't cause anymore harm than nightmares. Which, depending on the mind, CAN be pretty horrible, but that can be dealt with.

I don't know if this is a god. Nightmare was just a doctor who happened to figure out where 'Dream Weaver' came from and figured the other people involved in the same experiment could be useful.

Who said there was a god? If it was Roxie, it might be true.

Still, if something is drawing in Nightmare Beasts, there's cause to be concern. Nightmare was making dreams come alive when he was drawing them in.

I mean this dream attacking guy. All I've heard is this one girl mentioning it. Katara. I don't know any chicks called Roxie.

Is this why you're worried about your body being taken over? You're thinking this guy might take over?

It shouldn't be. Handy Man is good at what he makes so unless some can copy my actual brain waves, it shouldn't be tricked. And that'd be as they'd be using some sort of mental ability to control my body which shows up like neon signs on brain waves.

Right. I could just compile a whole report.

It's not an easy one to make, but I need someone to do it in case the worse should happen.

My powers can work if I was in a coma. I know because in the experiment I got my powers, every other subject was put in a coma and the doctor running it who later turned supervillain used them to basically terrorized all of Apex with their dreams.

That is a concern, to be a tool if I go into a coma, but there is one more thing...

If I get brain damage...I...I don't actually have the best personality. I mean, I can become rather...vindictive and cruel if I don't check myself. I usually do, but the concern I have is if I go into a coma and end up having my memories, my will, kind of zapped because of brain damage and I just kind of become reactive and don't know better.

Which is pretty bad if I'm walking around in dream land because I know how much damage you can do to the human psyche via dreams. I did it to the doctor and he was playing with nightmares for fun when I did it and drove him completely mad beyond what he was before.

Which is why I know that my powers are a bad thing if I don't check myself.

And so I want to ask should I go into a coma, very likely have gotten brain damage, and have woken up in two weeks...

Pull the plug. Because I do not want to become like that.

I'm forced to ask, then: What keeps it from being removed or falling off? I'm not comfortable interpreting a missing button as a frown.

If you can find something to compile it on, do it.

I'm...pretty certain it won't be my call. But if it happens, I'll make sure the doctor is informed.

Sadly, nothing. It was made pretty quick, so Handy Man didn't have time for a permanent sticking button. Though, since I'm not keeping the secret identity anymore, I'll always be wearing the pin. So if I don't have it, it either means I can't wear it because it'll blow some sort of cover for a mission, I'm being possessed, or I lost it.

I think we can do it on the omnicoms. If not, I'll find something else.

I think you'd be one of the people to make the call. I mean, I don't have any next of kin awake. If anyone is awake from my world, it's not someone I know personally. And you seemed the logical choice.

You're not so emotionally attached to me like my friends would be to absolutely refuse to let me die, but not so detached that you'd have the plug pulled without giving me a chance to recover. You're my team's leader, and I accept that, which means I've already trusted you with my life. And you're military which usually involves some decision making of doing what's best for the whole instead of the individual.

...hopefully it's not something that has to come up, but I'd rather be safe than a nightmare being.
