Offering My Services
My name is Sherlock Holmes. I'm a consulting detective, the only one that was in existence in my world at the time of its (alleged) destruction, working most often with the Scotland Yard on the cases the police were too incompetent to solve on their own.
This post has a three-fold purpose.
1. I would like to be put in contact with whoever is responsible for criminal investigations on the ship, to possibly make arrangements for future consultations.
2. I would like to be put in contact with whoever is responsible for criminal investigations on-planet, during missions, to make similar arrangements.
3. I would like to make it known to the ship proper that I'm available for private cases. Interesting ones only please. If you're in need of assistance, contact me and we'll discuss whether or not your case has potential.

Am I really supposed to accept the case of every client that comes to my door? Half of them are "I think my husband is cheating on me" or "my neighbor broke my window but I can't prove it" or "my wife was kidnapped by the RIRA." Boring. There are other cases that I'd enjoy undertaking more, with clients that have equal or greater need of my services.

If they need help, I feel it'd be wrong to turn them away just because the help they need is boring.

I also receive enough potential cases that turning someone away simply leads to taking another case for someone who also has need of my services, and sometimes I'll take on boring ones just to keep myself occupied if there aren't any better ones available. I'm hardly the only detective they can hire. There are plenty of private investigators out there that can take on their cases and the ones I turn down are simple enough that others less intelligent than myself can most likely solve them.
It's not as if I'm their only recourse. There are the police and other detectives in the world, even if they're leagues below myself in terms of expertise.

Can't say I agree with your methods, but at least you're up-front about the way you do things.
Either way, welcome aboard the ship, Mr. Holmes.
