ATTN: Crew

Hey guys. It looks like we've gotten some new crew and I would like to get straight to the point. There's a lot of people here who don't know how to defend themselves whether they be kids, teens, or adults, but I think you guys could stand to learn some moves curtesy of the Wind Ninja Academy and one of their former students so anyone who wants to get involved with this let me know.

Rangers, even though this isn't mandatory I'd still like you five to at least watch a class or two.

You're the one who replied to me. I was only telling Dustin I had people who needed training. You're the one trying to make it sound like their fodder, and in THAT case, why would they even want to do this?

You make it sound like I don't know people will die when we fight the Ohm.

You're certainly acting like it.

Because every good army needs cannon fodder. If they don't want to, you put 'em up there anyway.

What're they gonna do, surrender?

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2011-01-13 10:13 am (UTC)(link)
I know there will be deaths. But they shouldn't happen because people choose to be fodder. They should happen because they're going to go down fighting, all of them. Each of them are individuals that make up a whole, and they'll all play a part on this fight. That will be what makes them stronger, not just the strength of a chosen few. They'll have ways to come up with new ideas.

If cannon fodder worked against the Ohm, do you really think Stacy would even need us?

[identity profile] teethofneedles.livejournal.com 2011-01-13 10:32 am (UTC)(link)
The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Individuals don't fucking matter in war. You know why? Because individuals don't mean shit if you lose. The strength of a chosen few, more often then not, wins this shit, whether those chosen few are the ones making the strategy at the top for all the little people to follow or an elite unit making a stand and wading through the enemies' blood and guts. You really think that everyone matters? That every person on board this ship can contribute something? That we're all equally worth something for this fight?

Bullshit. A lot of these fucks are civilians who couldn't find their ass with their own hands if it came to a fight and I'll be damned if we waste time trying to teach them how to pour piss out of a boot with instructions written on the heel. We should be working on building up the people we already have, should focus our resources on them and maybe we'll have a fighting chance. Yeah, sure; we can train newbies. Hell, if they wanna volunteer, they can be my guest. But they shouldn't get the bulk of our resources or our time.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2011-01-13 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
You're wrong, and that's why I have a hard time believing you've been in wars. I've seen people, even ones who haven't been as skilled as others, been able to make a difference because in the heat of battle, they had the instinct to make a decision they wouldn't have been able to before. War changes everything about you: you're more alert, you know the stakes. So yes, I do believe everyone on this ship is here for a reason, that they're a part of the greater force that makes up the hand we have against the Ohm. And I've been here long enough to see it happen too.

As for who trains them and how long, that's also up to the individuals on the ship too. You're welcome to believe what you want, but its their time and they'll spend it how they feel they should. I, like they, happen to think it will make a difference.

Believe what you want. My decade of experience says otherwise.

Here's hoping you don't end up dead.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2011-01-13 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
And my war experience says otherwise.

Hardly. I train my butt off for a reason: I can fight and heal. Getting fatally hurt is out of the question.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2011-01-13 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
That's ridiculous. No one's experience can be wrong, just different.

[identity profile] teethofneedles.livejournal.com 2011-01-13 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope. You're pretty wrong.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2011-01-13 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, you're two.

End of conversation.

[identity profile] teethofneedles.livejournal.com 2011-01-13 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
What's the matter? Don't like the truth?

Or maybe you're a coward. Who knows?

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2011-01-13 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
No, talking to you is like talking to a two year old. "I'm right, you're wrong." Please.

[identity profile] teethofneedles.livejournal.com 2011-01-13 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I am right. You're just too stupid to grasp the concept.
