From the Desk of the Chief Science Officer
In the interest of not losing my mind, I have been taking some time off work to think of things to do besides work and I've come up with a few ideas.
ATTN: Science Department
There will be a new system for passing out projects to work on, since they are piling up and the more they pile up, the more I come up with stupid ideas like working on them all by myself.
So from now on, in exchange for free access to the department lab (contagion) as you please, department members will be obligated to work on any projects that come up under their specialties. For example, if you are a physicist and someone approaches the department for help constructing a particle accelerator, you will be assigned to help them out. Feel free to pick up projects not under your specialty as well, as long as you don't blow anything up.
In your free time, hey, do whatever the hell you want. I would like to check over your personal projects using department resources for ethical reasons, but it's not like I'm a major hardass, okay? If this rule bothers you, you may feel free to take it up with me or find another lab to work in.
If you are interested in joining the department but have not yet for whatever reason, come speak to me in the contagion lab. I am usually, literally always there.
Also a reminder I am looking for new senior department heads in addition to Dr. Levy. If you're interested, time to start sucking up.
ATTN: Entire Crew
Three things.
1) The Science Department is now accepting projects from any crew members who would like research, data or results that do not exactly pertain to Medical or Engineering. We have experts in a variety of disciplines and even if your request is especially bizarre, we can look into it for you.
And hey, it's not like you have to pay for it.
The Science Department is located in the Contagion Containment Laboratory (across from Medbay).
2) In the interest of not working myself into an early grave, I will be starting a series of science classes for anybody interested in learning. All ages and experience levels are welcome. The initial focus will be biology, since that is my specialty, but guest lecturers on other disciplines are certainly in the cards as well.
It might be a good opportunity for some of you from older dimensions to learn more about how the ship works.
Let me know if you are interested in attending these lectures and we can talk about times.
3) I am in need of some volunteers to donate blood and tissue samples for research for the project I am currently working on. It would help to get a variety of different types and species for this. I'm not okay with going into Medical and borrowing out of their supplies, so this is the way to do it with informed consent.
I'll work some stickers or candy into the deal if you like.
