ATTN: ROGUE SQUADRON

Ladies and gentlemen,

Rogue Squadron will be taking on a second mission and operations role. That is to act as an organized commando and quick reaction force on board Stacy and elsewhere as needed when we are called upon to either react to attack or, if needed, project power beyond the ship. I wish to note that this duty is not a compulsory part of your training or your service in the squadron. Most of you signed up to be pilots, and anyone who wishes to be exempted from this duty will be allowed to.

However, there are several younger members in the squadron who I cannot allow to participate in this part of our mission in good conscience. It's one thing to allow you to pilot fighter craft, but I cannot, in good faith, allow fourteen, fifteen and sixteen year-olds to engage in dangerous commando operations. If you feel you have a compelling reason that will induce me to allow you to serve in this capacity, please feel free to present your reasons to me privately. Don't expect me to change my mind beyond extraordinary circumstances, however.

All those willing to serve in this capacity, please respond here and let me know what sort of skills you have that may be useful in this capacity. Specifically, such skills include small arms, demolitions, hand-to-hand combat, infiltration and communications.

I am highly trained in many forms of combat, though I will need further training in communications if I am to be effective in such a capacity. If needed, I can provide many functions.

Well this saves me hours of getting lost on the ship to find the captain.

Commander Shepard, [bit of a pause here] former Alliance Navy and Council Spectre. If you're looking for more commandos or need someone who knows the ropes well enough, I'm pretty sure I can help you.

[identity profile] blood-on-torfan.livejournal.com 2010-04-12 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Always got to start somewhere. I would be surprised if you had an aces already given the situation we're in. Is there anything you need?

[identity profile] blood-on-torfan.livejournal.com 2010-04-13 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds like a plan to me. I'm still trying to get my bearings, but there appears to be a bar called Drunken Dragon Tavern? If you don't mind a bit of unprofessional atmosphere, we can meet up there.

Count me in, sir. Major of the US Airforce, former leader of SG-2. You name it, I've trained for it.

I'm a superhero! I do dangerous stuff all the time.

waitwaitwait we'll be gunning people down? Wont that kill them?

Oh. Maybe I wasn't paying attention.

I don't kill. I'm a superhero.

I think I have to quit this thing. Even if the ships are mega cool.

I'm a computer engineer and programmer, and I can work fast - I rewrote part of my Gundam's OS in the middle of combat, but it helped that I'd worked on part of it in the first place.

I have a little bit of training in hand-to-hand combat, but I'm hardly an expert. I'm a Coordinator, though, and we're supposed to learn things more easily. So I should be able to pick things up with enough time.

If you need anything, I'll be happy to help.

General, can I ask you one thing?

[identity profile] kirasaves.livejournal.com 2010-04-12 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
I'd like you to be honest with me, if you can. How often do you think we'll be expected to kill?

I know that sometimes it's inevitable - sometimes a soldier doesn't have any other choice, especially if we're fighting the Ohm directly. But... it's also something I try not to do if it's at all possible - to neutralize an enemy without killing them.

I don't like to do it, if we can help it.

[identity profile] kirasaves.livejournal.com 2010-04-12 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
I understand... and thank you for being honest.

In my Gundam, I'm used to incapacitating foes without eliminating them - taking out their engines, or their weapon systems, just to name a few.

Would you discipline me if I tried to do the same here?

[identity profile] kirasaves.livejournal.com 2010-04-12 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
All right, I understand. ...I don't like to kill, but if it's unavoidable to protect another member of the squadron or to complete our mission, I will if necessary. You don't need to worry about that.

Thank you, sir.

I know it is. And a soldier has to be ready to face it.

...but if we can do what we do, and do the job in front of us without having to waste lives and make both sides hate each other all the more, why shouldn't we?

Hey! What's wrong with sixteen or seventeen year-olds in dangerous missions?! I've been doing them since I was a kid! I've built airplanes and stealth bombers!

[identity profile] maguspuparum.livejournal.com 2010-04-12 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
'In good conscience.' 'In good faith.' Your words betray you. Is it them you are protecting, or yourself?

[identity profile] jediwiseass.livejournal.com 2010-04-12 10:30 am (UTC)(link)
You know I'm in, Wedge.

[identity profile] sithhavecooties.livejournal.com 2010-04-14 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I am.

It looks like you've got enough commandos -- even plenty of Jedi. But I've done secret police ops on Coruscant that most Jedi haven't, and I can run comms if you're stubborn about not letting teenagers go out and knock heads together.

General, I may not be any kind of pilot but I do have commando experiences with my former unit. If you need assistance or help training I'd be more'n happy to pass on what bits I know.

[identity profile] rogues-luck.livejournal.com 2010-04-12 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you even have to ask, sir?

Dangerous commando operations? Count me in, and you know I'm more than willing to help train those who need it.

Providing it doesn't conflict with my other duties, you'll have my support. I have experience in all of the listed fields.

I'm pretty well skilled in a lot of small arms that are common to my time. Handguns and knives, for the most part. I also pretty decent hand-to-hand and I have a lot of computer knowledge.

I would be happy to help put the pilots through basic - I'm not a demo expert and the most stealthy I ever get is shooting the place I need to get into a new door, but I can teach them how to use a rifle and I can teach them self-defense.

Let me know if you need me.
