I talked to the dragon. Crucible says he's not going to eat anybody.

From the word on the ship he is of some age and prodigious power. It is dangerous to approach such a dragon. That you were able to is encouraging.

Still have all my limbs, so that's a good sign. Well, most of them, but that's how I was before I talked to him.

I still have no memory of the events when I was taken aboard the ship, but I seem to have arrived without my armor. For a knight, this is a great disadvantage. Is plate something you are capable of constructing?

Not that I actually expect this to be necessary, given that I expect certain elements of the crew were only being reactionary out of a love of rabble-rousing, but I hereby request a formal injunction from the Council against dragon-slaying, or for that matter, the indiscriminate slaughter of any being, creature, or species prior to a determination of sentience and hostile intent.

That's what the Constitution is for. If anyone attacks anyone, whatever species they may be, they'll be punished to the full extent of the law.

True, but as people grew more riled it began to seem as if they had either forgotten or ceased to care out of fear or anger. Better to see it prevented before than punished afterward.

I'll talk to the Council about possibly introducing a new law or at least rewording the Constitution to make note of the fact that non-humans have equal rights, but technically, all of it's already there.

If anything, I think people need a reminder of what the law is and who it protects.

It might not be a bad idea to make it clear somehow that beings who are sentient but incapable of speech deserve equal protection, though. Imagine how badly this might have gone down if Crucible was sentient but couldn't talk to speak up for himself.

awesome. i mean, as long as he's not lying. that could happen. but that's better news than it could have been.

The only thing he's not being forward with is the fact he has another identity on the ship, which is information I told him I won't keep secret. He wouldn't tell me what his other identity is, but I think it's his way of communicating with the crew directly without them being afraid of him.

As far as we know, he could be somebody else on board--or even something else. Apparently, he can take the forms of animals.
