Outsiders Intro

Hello to all of our new pod pop arrivals! My name is Katara of the Southern Water Tribe.

I know that there's been a lot of information thrown your way, and the recruitment process is probably blowing your mind right now. I can't say I blame you. It's pretty rough to take in that your world is gone, that the stuff on the ship is beyond what you grasp as far as normal, and now people want you to join in on the crew. We've all been there.

Specifically speaking, I'm talking to all of you kids and teenagers there, along with any of you assorted "aliens," a term I know doesn't really fit since technically we're all aliens really. But to you guys, I know because of your age or lack of skill that you may feel like you've been cut out of trying to do something vital for the ship. The adults have it a little easier since they've had years to develop a skill they're good at that will help Stacy and the crew in some way. That leaves us at a disadvantage, especially when we're underestimated for our youth.

A little while back after a pretty bad skirmish, we lost a good team member named B5, and it didn't help that at that time we were bickering amongst ourselves. Soon after, a few friends got together and created a team: The Outsiders. The name sounds off putting, but bear with me. The whole purpose of this team was to get all the teenagers and kids who are otherwise not represented on the ship together to form a concrete team. Some of us, me included, are used to working in a team on our perspective home worlds, and that was partly why The Outsiders were drafted together. The other was to help those that are still looking for a place to belong on the ship and don't feel like they quite fit anywhere. In some places, we were called Young Justice, and other places the Teen Titans. Either way, the intent is somewhat the same: a group of kids willing to fight for the good of the people here, and prove we are a force to be reckoned with.

Obviously, this is not a team so that we can thumb our noses at ship authority since unity is essential to our survival, now more than ever. If anything, its the total opposite: I want everyone to see what we're made of, that we can conduct ourselves in a mature and caring manner and have a camaraderie just like any other organization on the ship.

This message is to answer any questions you might have, any suggestions and helpful advice. I'm trying to restart us since our original leaders are gone and some of our other members might not want to stay for one obligation or another. We can vote a leader or everyone can have equal footing. Remember, this team should be for you guys, whether to train you to become stronger or simply provide the kind of support and family you've been hoping for. I had a great time in The Outsiders and formed bonds I might not have without them. I hope we can continue in that same vein.

I was getting to that, actually. I just wanted to get everyone's attention first, get their input. There's actually already a place down in the City for the Outsiders: its a hotel with a pool and couch and everything.

Thanks for before. I'm really not surprised you'd be the one to run something like this. I'd love to join. I'm not exactly a fighter, but if you need anything computer related I can help. Always been more comfortable on the computer anyway.

I-uh, was trying to take down this section of the government back home. They did experiments on us as kids, and well, we were still being studied even as we were working on bringing it down... So, yeah, I'm used to working on a team. Loretta and Mikel did all the real work though.

I'm just organizing it for now, not really running it. If you guys wants someone specific to run it, we can decide that at the meeting. For now this is just to get everyone interested together so we can start drafting out ideas.

And don't worry about not being able to fight: in most situations we've faced, fighting isn't the only thing needed anyway. We need inventive, smart people, magical people, all different kinds. You'll definitely be needed.

We'll be glad to talk more about it when we meet. The headquarters of The Outsiders is in the abandoned hotel in the city. It has a big statue out front, you can't miss it.
